Since I have spent enough money for grocery this month(yes, going to Costco 3 times and to a big oriental store will definitely do!), I decided not to go grocery shopping until the next month rolls around. Last grocery shopping was on 18th. 5 more days. 5 more dinners.
I miss fresh fruits and veggies.
Today we ate the last fresh veggies- broccoli. We had salmon and broccoli sauted in teriyaki sauce, rice, and miso soup with sea weed. I opened a can of mandarine oranges for fruits.
Yesterday I defrosted ground pork and boiled it with nappa cabbage in soy sauce and sugar.
The day before yesterday, I made two pizzas and used the spaghetti sauce I made on Sunday as tomato sauce. Mozzarella cheese was frozen so I defrosted and put it on. On the other pizza, I put white sauce
made with powdered milk, margarine, and flour. Topping was frozen spinach and canned chicken.
What I have in the veggie container of the fridge is about 10 mini carrot sticks, 1 inch cucumber,
and some garlic. I am out of onions, mayonaise, and peanut butter. I have a gallon of milk which will not last until Tuesday so I will be making more powdered milk soon.
I made banana bread today since my son is complaining he doesn't have anything he can snack on. Didn't we just get a nice big package with lots of snacks from my mom in Japan?? Crazy.
I only have 2 eggs left now. I am tempted to go eat out or order pizza. I really want fresh veggie and fruits.
I realize this is a good way to see how prepared I am and learn to use the food storage.
When I told my mother-in-law about it, she felt bad and was going to offer some food
but I told her no. It defeats the purpose! And now I am forced to clean the fridge! haha.
So now I am thinking about doing this regularly, only making food from food storage items or things that are in fridge already, so that I can really be prepared when something does happen.
Who's with me?
The end.
